Title: THE LITTLE BOOKROOM, Eleanor Farjeon's Short Stories For Children Chosen By Herself
Description: Oxford University Press, 1955/1956, second impression. 1956. Hardcover with dust jacket. Hardback, 8vo, xii + 302 pages, VG to VG+ in like dj (dj in new protective mylar). FFEP has a warm and neat birthday gift inscription to a Mary Jane F. from her parents, with Mary Jane F.'s name in ink to the FFEP just beneath a bookplate this previous owner seems to have trimmed short at the bottom (bookplate measures 2 3/4 inches square). Endpapers show very slight amount of pattern discoloration as from pastedown glue. Interior otherwise very clean, binding is very solid. Beneath the dj: gilt titles on brick red cloth with the spine cloth slightly faded. The dj itself is very crisp and clean with only a small glitch (quarter-inch tear) both at the top and bottom edges of the front panel near the spine. Author's introductory pages mentions all the books in her home as a child. Short Stories include: Young Kate, The Girl Who Kissed the Peach Tree, The Clumber Pup, Leaving Paradise, The Connemara Donkey, Pennyworth, The Kind Farmer - 27 in all. "Awarded the Carnegie Medal and the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1955." , Very Good/Very Good.
