Plates printed at the famous "Ganymed" presses, from Berlin. Blossfeldt sought through his close-up images of plant forms to establish a link between form in a natural world "governed by some fixed and eternal force" and in art. Urformen Der Kunst is the high point of his work. It was rapidly acclaimed in Germany and abroad and was soon published in France and the United States.
