Title: History of Greece from the Earliest Times, to the Final Subjection to Rome.
Description: London: Baldwin and Cradock, 1829. FIRST EDITION. Tall 8vo, 217 x 133 mms., pp. vii [viii], 288, printed in double columns, rather garishly rebound in half crushed red morocco, marbled boards, gilt spine, new end-papers; a rather upmarket binding for a cheaply printed book. The anonymous author, Frederick Malkin (1802-1830) was the second son of Benjamin Heath Malkin, the schoolmaster and promoter of William Blake. Malkin died at the age of 28, not living long enough to publish any other books. His text here is dense and thorough, and he seems to have put a lot of trouble, organisation, and research into the work, and it was reprinted several times.
