In Venetia, Appresso Vaolo Ugolino, 1596. 4to, foliated 88, [89 - 94], contemporary vellum; first title-page fingered, fore-edges very slightly worn, binding stained. The Italian historian Leandro Alberti (1479–1552) was tutored by the Bolognese rhetorician, Giovanni Garzoni (1418 - 1506); he entered the Dominican order in 1493. He also acquired a reputation an opponent of witchcraft. The present book was first published in 1550 and has gone through numerous editions, with useful observations on the topography, archaeology, and numerous curiosities; the historical points might be labelled "fake news." As the comments and descriptions cover the whole of Italy as well as the islands, contemporary readers found it as useful travel guide.
