Description: London: Printed for F. C. and J. Rivington..., 1813. FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. 8vo, 211 x 123 mms., pp. iv, recent boards, with paper label on front cover. A very good copy. Christopher Samuel John (1747 - 1813) sports a long string of prestigious associations and honours after his name on the title-page, but otherwise very little seems to be known about him. He was a skillec concholist, botanisst, and amateur astronomer. He asked the Church Missionary Society to send a missionary to India, Charles Theophilus Eward Rhenius (1790 - 1838), to work among the Tamils. This work appears to have been published after his death. Goldsmiths'-Kress no. 20731.1.
