Title: The Miscellaneous Works of Richard Linnecar, of Wakefield.
Description: Leeds: Printed by Thomas Wright, 1789. FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. Large 8vo (in 4s), 231 x 185 mms., pp. [viii], 300, including list of subscribers at end, original baords, uncut; edges and boards a bit soiled, but a rather good copy of a book as originally issued. The Critical Review for 1793 commented that "A numerous list of subscribers is annexed to this performance, which induces us to suppose that Mr. Linnecar has some other claim on public favour than his literary abilities. They are certainly not of a superior order, and, to do the author justice, he does not plume himself upon them." The volume contains two comedies, The Lucky Escape and The Plotting Wives, as well as a tragedy, The Generous Moor. An essay, "Strictures on Free Masonry" celebrates its "memorable treasury."
