Tonson..., 1760. 4 volumes. 8vo, 202 x 116 mms., pp. xxxiv, [x], 387 388 blank],lxxxviii; [viii], 480, lii; [iv], 494; [iv], 456, engraved portrait of Dryden as frontispiece in volume 1, contemporary calf, rebacked with old richly gilt spines to a Greek key pattern laid down; hinges with tape reinforcement, pp. 147 - 158 in volume 1 detached from inner margin, with spine gutter exposed, some other slight general wear, but a rather attractive set with three ownership bookplates, that of Ralph Fetherston, Esqr., probably the first Fetherston Baronet of Ardagh, County Longford, created in 1776, with Sir Ralph Fetherston *1730 - 1780), the small book label of Cecil Woodham-Smith, CBE (1896 - 1977), and that of Perran Wood, with his armorial bookplate Tonson published this collected edition of Dryden's works in 1757, and this appears to be a straightforward reprint. The dedication is signed by Samuel Derrick ,who wrote the life and supplied the notes in volumes 1 and 2.
