Small 8vo, 165 x 102 mms., pp. xiv, 238; [iv], 307 [308 - 332 Glossary], engraved portrait of Ramsay in volume 1 (slightly foxed), original boards, uncut; boards volume 1 holding on for dear life, boards volume 2 detached. This was the first edition of Ramsay's poems to be published in London after his death in 1758. An edition of 1760 in one volume gives no place of publication or publisher, and it was probably a pirated edition published in London. The first edition of his poems, made up of various reprints, was published in 1720, while the first collected London edition was published in 1731. This 1761 edition has a number of annotations, but the editor seems to be unknown. Burns Martin 153.
