Morehead (1777 - 1842) had his eye on the philosophers and writers of the Scottish Enlightenment, and many of the topics in these sermons anticipate his later works, two of which, Dialogues on Natural and Revealed Religion (1830) and Philosophical Dialogues (1845) were designed as sequels to Hume's Dialogues concerning Natural Religion (1779). There are two sermons in volume one on natural and revelated religion; a sermon in volume two, "On the Distinction of Ranks in Society," would appear to be a clear allusion to John Millar's Observations Concerning the Distinction of Ranks in Society (1771).
