Description: London: Printed for T. Cox..., 1742. FIRST AND ONLY EDITION. 8vo, lxxxiv, 175 [176 blank], later half calf, marled boards, no label. A good copy. . Warburton's Divine Legation of Moses (1738 - 1741) provoked a large number of responses, usually unfavourable from clerics who thought his argument that in the ancient Hebraic world, a "life after death" was not invoked as a mandate for virtuous living. Morgan, a deist, makes a number of ironic compliments to Warburton but more-or-less argues that he doesn't take his argument to its logical conclusion.
