Title: Essais Philosophiques sur l'Entendement Humain, Traduit de l'Anglois de Mr. Hume. Seconde Edition.
Description: A Amsterdam, Chez. J. H. Schneider, 1761. 8vo, pp. [iv], 340, title-page printed in red and black, contemporary mottled continental calf, gilt spine; binding affected by mottling process, with some leather missing, spine rubbed and worn, lacks label. This translation by Jean-Bernard Merian formed volume 2 of the collected edition of the translations into French of Hume's works that Schneider published in five volumes, 1758 - 1760, and re-issued (with some changes) in five volumes as a second edition 1759 - 1764. "Tome II" appears in the lower left-hand margin at the beginning of each gathering. There is no general title-page (and the ornament on the title-page is different from that on the general title-pages of the collected editions), and this is possibly a separate issue of the work. The contents leaf, however, is a "Table des Essais contenus dans le second Volume." COPAC locates a copy at CUL; no other copies located.
