Title: The House of Hope
Description: London, Humphrey Milford. 1923, First Edition. Quarter Cloth and Patterned Paper-covered Boards. Ill.: Phyllis Gardner (woodcuts). Book, 54pp.+ 6 plates. Two poems are dated 1919; one of which is dedicated to Foy Felicia Quiller-Couch the younger sister of Cannan's fiancée, Bevil Quiller-Couch, who had died from Spanish flu in that year. His memory & the aftermath of the war itself inevitably haunt the whole collection. Edges untrimmed. Intact paper labels on spine & front board with spare spine label tipped in at rear. Cloth very lightly soiled. Small pen-mark on front label affecting the second 'n' of Cannan. Offsetting on free end papers. Very Good.
