Covering the entire half title page is a charming, original painting by Nachtrieb, of a bluebird on a branch. On the title page is a the author's inscription: "May the 'Bluebird of Happiness' be with you always! /Katharine Braun/8-15-82. "Shirley Nachtrieb, a graduate of Fontbonne College, has been a freelance artist and teacher for over 30 years. She paints and teaches throughout the United States. Her painting mediums include watercolor, pastel, acrylics, mixed media, fiber, and handmade books.
