In Baskin's own words: "The enormous size of these woodcuts is not the result of a caprice......Whether the necessity which spurred these woodcuts to larger and ever larger dimensions was graced with truth, will in time be found out. Of all the graphic media, the woodcut alone holds the possibility of images conceived and realized in monumental scale. Only in the woodcut can vast areas of black be rich and splendid. Now matter ow wide the span, the black remains pure and terrible....Here are 10 prints, grotesque, umnanageable and unlimited. Heaven help them." On the obverse side of of the bound in flap it states"excerpts from 34th Venice Biennial Published by Smithsonian Institute Press, Washington, D. C." Baskin's works are held in dozens of museums.. Very Good .
