The fine upper cover illustration with gilt lettering is in nice condition with only a little spotting. Almost unfoxed, an excellently preserved copy. Descriptions of places in and around Naples written by Allers himself, but also by Walter Trede and Alexander Olinda, extensively illustrated with detailed sketches and grand views by Allers, an exceptionally talented artist who exhibited a lot of joy in his work. Apart from Naples, Camaldoli is treated, next to Ischia, Baiae, Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, Paestum and Castellammare. Fine sights of Pompeii and many portraits of worthy men and beautiful women, and loving depictions of Italian types.
