Description: Buffalo, New York 1900, Very good condition, Recently reframed and preserved with acid free materials, in original wooden frame from the 1900's - 1910's, with layers of black and brown wood and gilding, frame in very good condition with some usual wear do to it's age. Sight h. 264 mm - w. 340 mm. Frame h. 44 cm. - w. 51.5 cm. This Chromolithograph depicts Sgt. Arthur Richardson VC of Lord Strathcona's Horse, who, for performing a gallant rescue of a comrade under heavy enemy fire, an act of heroism, received a Victoria Cross, Canada's first of the war. The litho shows a dead horse to the rigth, while the rider is rescued and a white puff from a glancing bullet raises dust while the Boers are rapidly coming closer.
