BURMAN, Peter or Pieter. - Vectigalia Populi Romani, et Zeus Kataibates sive Jupiter Fulgerator, in Cyrrhestarum Nummis.

Title: Vectigalia Populi Romani, et Zeus Kataibates sive Jupiter Fulgerator, in Cyrrhestarum Nummis.
Description: Leyden, Wishoff 1734. Quarto contemporary vellum decorated in gilt (a bit dusty or marked); extra engraved title by Bleyswyck, [26],346,[12]pp. A touch of browning and some insignificant flaws, rather a good copy. The misbinding of a couple of leaves that occurs in some copies has been fixed here. With the label of P.P.C. Lammens, the first librarian of the University of Ghent and presumably a Haarlem prize binding - each board has the gilt figure of Minerva with the motto 'Vicit Vim Virtus'. ¶ A pairing of two works separately published earlier by Burman the elder; the first, of more consequence, on Roman taxation; the second on the iconography of Zeus on the coins of Cyrrhus.
