Two volumes octavo publisher's cloth; viii,469; viii,588,7pp. Some wear, some spotting, a second hand but perfectly acceptable set. ¶ Chunder Dutt, to stick to the old anglicism, was a prolific member of a prolific Bengali family of scholars and writers. Three of the five pieces here (a complete world history in two parts and a history of Bengal) had been published in the mid seventies but under the name J.A.G. Barton. Armed with the appended seven pages of laudatory press opinions he has come out of the racial closet but, curiously, with a different publisher. They had been published by Blackwood while Trubner were very much 'Oriental' publishers. The other two pieces are on the great wars of India and ruins as milestones of civilisation.
