Totten's researches began in 1919 when asked to design a museum for a client's collection of American Indian curios and he decided to take a look for himself. His handsome book is offered to American architects with a spiritual fervour and at the end are some modern designs - Totten's plans for a museum, buildings by Albert Kelsey and a design (Totten's?) for a Mayan country house.
