Description: The Hague, The Servire Press. 1932, First Edition. Hardcover. Book, 8vo. xii. 475pp. Yellow boards with grey cloth spine. Top-edge with publisher's blue stain. Decorative unclipped dustjacket. Famous anthology with selections from the work of fifty-two American writers including the likes of Aiken, Djuna Barnes, e.e. cummings, Dos Passos, Hemingway, McAlmon, Pound, Gertrude Stein, William Carlos Williams, and contains Henry Miller's first book appearance (Mademoiselle). With photographs and biographical sketches of the authors (except for Ezra Pound, who writes: I can't bloody well be bothered to write my own biography..). The volume is also renowned for its vulnerable binding (i.e. poor joints and loose pages).
