Published by the Carnegie Institute of Washington, Publication no. 145. Today, the taxonomic term ‘Cotylosauria’ is considered a synonym of the family Captorhinidae. The Captorhinidae are the earliest group of true reptiles from the Carboniferous through the Permian. This monograph describes the North American species of that group. Originally from the research collection of Stanford University herpetologist/ichthyologist George S. Myers with his name stamp/address on the front endpaper and on the verso of the title page. Later from the research collection of herpetologist Lauren C. Brown with his signature on the front endpaper. Light foxing to the endpapers only; a tight copy in near fine condition..
