This work consists of a series of 16 chapters, some of which were first published in magazines such as the Home Friend. The first four chapters explore the island of Lundy. Lundy is the largest island in the Bristol Channel. It lies 12 miles (19 km) off the coast of Devon, England (from Wiki). Gosse was invited to visit Lundy in July 1852 where he spent time studying the natural history there. Signature of Fred Seluett on the front free endpaper. Some light foxing to the frontis section of the book, light edge-wear to the cloth, one small oblong spot on the rear cloth board; a tight and clean copy in very good condition..
