Title: Taika Kacho Kessaku Shu (=Collection of Masterpieces of Flowers and Birds by Great Artists).
Description: Kyoto: Aotani Bunsei Do, 1925. Fourth printing. Pp. 45 leaves (un-numbered), each leaf with black-and-white reproduction of a scroll painting featuring birds in naturalistic settings. Original brown wrappers, with printed title label on the front cover, string-bound in Japanese-style (fukuro-toji), narrow folio (345 x 205 mm). From the research library of ornithologist Oliver L. Austin (past Director of the Austin Ornithological Research Center in Wellfleet, Massachusetts and past Curator of Ornithology at the Florida Museum of Natural History), though no ownership marks are present. Laid in at front are two pages of neatly printed text in the hand of Austin that provide the English common name of each bird. Some wear to wrappers, small puncture mark in the front wrapper that extends into the blank endpapers, rear wrapper is lightly soiled, contents are clean; a good solid copy..
