Latin names and common names in English appear at the top of the page for each bird described in Japanese. Inscribed by the first author, Nakamura, to ornithologist Oliver L. Austin (past Director of the Austin Ornithological Research Center in Wellfleet, Massachusetts and past Curator of Ornithology at the Florida Museum of Natural History), on the front endpaper.
