An early review of the birds of Fukushima Prefecture. It is not known how many species of birds survived the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster that began on March 11, 2011. As this study was written in 1955, it could serve as a benchmark for comparison with the bird species that still remain in Fukushima Prefecture. The text is entirely in Japanese. From the research library of ornithologist Oliver L. Austin (past Director of the Austin Ornithological Research Center in Wellfleet, Massachusetts and past Curator of Ornithology at the Florida Museum of Natural History), with his rectangular Japanese/English name-stamp seal on the rear endpaper. Warmly inscribed by the author to O. L. Austin, dated Christmas, 1953 on the front endpaper. Very scarce. This work shows few signs of use. One corner of rear wrapper is missing that extends to the paper at the top of the spine, the text block shows light marginal browning to the outer margins only; overall of good solid copy of a very rare work..
