Contemporary quarter dark brown leather with five raised bands, over brown and tan marbled boards with French style blue marbled endpapers, 4to. Reise der osterreichischen Fregatte Novara um die Erde in den Jahren 1857, 1858, 1859, Zoologischer theil, volume 2, division III, no. 1. The Novara was the name of the frigate that circumnavigated the globe during the Austrian expedition of 1857-1859. Collections were made in Australia, New Zealand and the islands of the South Pacific among many other countries along the expedition route. This is the complete volume on the decapod crustaceans collected on this famous zoological expedition. Bookplate of ""Morphological Laboratory Cambridge, Balfour Library"" on the front endpaper (stamped withdrawn). Small circular name stamp of Balfour Library on the rear side of each plate, no other external or internal library marks. Some edge wear to marbled boards and to the head of the spine, a very good copy..
