Title: North American Fauna, numbers 1-76, complete
Description: Washington: U.S. Government Printing Office, 1889-1991, First edition Pp. 15,000+, numerous photos, text-figures and maps (most are black-and-white but some are in color). 61 numbers are bound individually in early uniform brown cloth, gilt-lettered on the spine (some volumes also have gilt-titles on the front boards), some original wrappers bound in, + 13 numbers are in the publisher's printed wrappers, 8vo. Numbers 6 and 9 were never published. The complete set of 74 numbers of this classic work that covers all aspects of the fauna of North America (mammals, reptiles, birds, regional faunal studies). The 61 bound volumes are mildly ex-library from the Reading Public Museum with a white call number on the spine of all volumes. A few bound volumes also have the Museum's bookplate on the front endpaper and even fewer volumes have the occasional ink stamp of the Museum. Four of the numbers in original wrappers have the signature or name stamp of a previous owner; the other nine numbers have no ownership marks. This work is rarely offered as a complete set. The bound volumes show occasional shelf wear, there are very few signs of use in any of the 74 numbers; a tight, clean, near fine copy..
