NOTE: There is a rather amazing, beautifully hand-written inscription on the front free end paper, taking up the entire page: "Geschenk Ihere Koniglichen Hoheit der Grafsherzogin von Hessen & bei Rhein, geb. Prinzessin Eleonore zu Lich Hohensolms Lich Sommer 1915. Anna Textor." = "Gift of her royal sovereignty the countess of Hesse and by Rhine, born Princess Eleonore of Lich, Hohensolms-Lich, Summer 1915 - Anna Textor" (The House of Solms-Hohensolms-Lich is a Hessian princely family, and a line of the House of Solms.) Underneath that is written, "Nach meinem Ableben an Herrn Doktor med. Max Hedinger zu senden in Erinnerung an seine dankbare Patientin. - Anna Textor." = "Upon my death, please give to Dr. Max Hedinger in memory of his grateful patient. - Anna Textor." Princess Eleonore of Solms-Hohensolms-Lich (17 September 1871 - 16 November 1937), was the second wife of Ernst-Ludwig, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine and the mother of his two sons, one of whom married Prince Philip's sister. We have not been able to find exactly who Anna Textor ws, but the Textors were a Hessian family, and there still is a Textorhaus in the town of Lich. Beautiful, clean, and solid but for front hinge separating at spine; front leather darkened to black; spines faded to brown, but they match on the shelf! The inscription (see description) must be legitimate, however, because each volume contains a small, discreet, Jugendstil bookplate belonging to "Eleanor Grossherzogin von Hessen und bei Rhein" (Eleanor, Grand Duchess of Hessen and by Rhine) .
