Once based primarily on the compilations created by Austrian scholar and artist Johann Adam Bernhard Ritter von Bartsch (1757-1821) in his 21-volume "Le Peintre Graveur." This volume addresses the work of a number of anonymous Italian engraving masters, as well as of Maso Finiguerra (1426-1464) and Baccio Baldini (1436-1487).
