This edition also contains 12 full-page illustrations per volume, some of which are original etchings (2 per volume) the rest being photogravures. This utility-quality set has held up very well over the years. Each volume contains lists of outlines of paintings, portraits of painters, and monograms and signatures, and a bibliography. The many thousands of entries for European and American artists and artworks are alphabetical with cross references. This edition contains two original etchings in each volume. From a limited printing of 500 copies, this being set No. 286. Good with signs of wear to extremities, some spines re-backed, various bookplates inside including a withdrawn staamp from academic library, internally VG and clean .
