Title: Northwest Passage. October 23-November 5, 1972. Volume 8, Number 1
Description: Bellingham, WA, Northwest Passage, Publisher, 1972. Tabloid. Side folding tabloid format. 32 pp. Rear cover a full page underground comix by R. Crumb, where he parodies his "Keep on Truckin'" piece. Black and white illustrations throughout. A long-running underground paper from Bellingham, Washington, started in 1969 and publishing until 1986. While initially focusing on counterculture, the paper covered politics, environment, women's rights and other issues with a left wing perspective. Some of its writing would serve to influence local politics and policy after their journalism exposed corruption in government or business. This issue with several pieces on surviving the upcoming presidential election, an article on street drugs and psychedelics, etc. GOOD condition. Ex-library with two labels and some stamping on the upper front cover. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate browning to the paper. Moderate chipping and tearing along the extremities. General light wrinkling to the paper. Minor soiling. Several leaves in the interior inexplicably torn their entire length along the gutter, leaving that edge rather jagged. Good .
