Various Authors - Red Balloon (1973)

Title: Red Balloon (1973)
Description: New York, Red Balloon Collective, Publisher, 1973. Tabloid. Side folding tabloid newspaper format. 16 pp. Black and white photos throughout. A single issue of this underground newspaper produced by the Red Balloon Collective, a group formed from the splintering of the SDS in 1968. Organized at SUNY Stony Brook, the collective hoped to "strengthen existing movements, help people to form their own direct action collectives and underground papers, and then link them together." This issue discusses a planned conference, one that university officials denied permission for, resulting in Red Balloon Collective members barricading themselves in the administration building. Also discussed in this issue are topics such as sexism, the recent election, the Vietnam War, etc. GOOD condition. Paper brittle and splitting along the hinge, needing to be opened very gently to avoid further tearing. Moderate toning. Some chipping and tearing along the edges. Minor soiling. FREE in pencil on the front cover. Good .
