A long-running underground paper from Bellingham, Washington, started in 1969 and publishing until 1986. While initially focusing on counterculture, the paper covered politics, environment, women's rights and other issues with a left wing perspective. Some of its writing would serve to influence local politics and policy after their journalism exposed corruption in government or business. This issue with a look at the growing prison population in the United States and the industry arising out of it; excerpts from a memoir by Marvin Garson, "The Staged Sixties;" an interview with Spokane lawyer Carl Maxey, an attorney noted for his work in the Civil Rights movement. GOOD condition, ex-college library and bearing minor stamping to the front cover. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate browning to the paper. Minor chipping and tearing along the extremities. General light wrinkling to the paper. Paper toned in the interior, with dampstaining along the fore edge. Good .
