Side folding tabloid format newspaper, with a full front page photo protesters and police clashing in Pittsburgh. 16 pp. Black and white illustrations throughout. Single issue of this underground newspaper embracing radical, left wing and socialist causes (with a Marxist-Leninist bent). Originating as the Temple Free Press at Temple University it evolved from a college newspaper to a radical paper under the editorship of Bill Baggins. This issue with news on the case of Fred Ahmed Evans, an African-American activist and leader of the New Libyans in Cleveland. After constant police surveillance and harassment, his group and the Cleveland police engaged in a shootout in 1968 that left seven people dead. Another piece looks at violent police action used against protesting Black workers in Pittsburgh; other police violence; the Vietnam War; a photo of Kathleen and Eldridge Cleaver with their baby son, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate toning to the paper. Horizontal fold crease present. Minor tearing along the fore edge. Good .
