A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with articles on the national food conspiracy and how to counter it; news on the Wounded Knee Occupation by the Oglala Lakota Native American tribes; a look at women's rights and discrimination against women in California, as codified by state laws; a short piece on a hearing regarding the Ruchell Magee trial and whether it will be retried; a collection of poems by Charles Bukowski in his Notes From a Dirty Old Man column; Rumpleforeskin column by Paul Krassner, etc. GOOD condition. Slightly ex-library, with the only indication a mailing address label present on the upper front cover, with a few letters in pencil next to it. Moderate general browning. Minor soiling and staining. Faint horizontal fold crease present. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Good .
