Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with pieces on Michael Pennywell, second in command of the Los Angeles Black Panther Party getting 90 days in jail for saying fuck; news on Ronald Reagan getting pissy with protesters in Berkeley; news on the Clay Shaw trial; a long piece on conditions in San Quentin prison, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Horizontal fold crease present. Mailing label and not for sale written on upper front cover. Address stamp on the front page of the second section. Good .
