A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with a piece on Donald DeFreeze and the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) and whether he was a police provocateur; interviews with Gary Glitter, Chloris Leachman, and Peggy Lee; pieces on Brownsville Station, Bachmann Turner Overdrive; a column by Charles Bukowski in his Notes From a Dirty Old Man, etc. GOOD condition. University mailing address label present, with no other institutional markings. Minor general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Good .
