Description: Chicago, Stone and Kimball, 1895. Wraps. Printed wraps. Two illustrations present: one of Joaquin Miller by Art Nouveau artist Frederick Richardson; the other of C.U.P. by Gardner C. Teall. The Chap-Book was a late 19th century little magazine, influential in its use of the Aesthetic style of typography and layout, as well as the publishing of avant-garde and other up and coming writers and artists (MacLeod: American Little Magazines, p 30-35). This issue with a poem by Julian Hawthorne "Were-Wolf," as well as work by Bliss Carman and others. GOOD condition. Ex-library with a small circular stamp on the upper front cover. Minor browning to the wraps. Minor chipping, tearing and curling along the extremities, with a ½ inch size piece missing from the upper left corner of the front cover. Minor soiling and spotting. Good .
