A collection of letters and testimony/transcribed conversations relating to the Stockbridge and Munsee Native American tribes, regarding settlements of disputes with the US government and treaties with the tribes. This includes, as stated on the cover letter, a very brief history of the tribe beginning with an 1839 treaty through 1898, mentioning dissensions within the tribe regarding their affairs, etc. With discussion of various treaties as well as proposed agreements/settlements. GOOD condition. Minor toning. Piece rather fragile, threatening to come apart along the spine. Good .
