A humorous novel of family life, a collaboration between Henry and Augustus Mayhew. Henry Mayhew was known for his strong advocacy for social reform in England, as well as his work with Punch magazine and the Illustrated London News. Phiz, the illustrator (Hablot Knight Browne) is perhaps best known for his work with Charles Dickens. GOOD condition. Heavy scuffing and fading to the covers. Very heavy scuffing and edgewear along the hinges and extremities, with chipping, fraying and loss, including superficial loss of cloth along the spine. Minor soiling. Interior hinges weak but holding. Scattered soiling and staining to the pages throughout. Good/No Jacket.
