A single issue of this magazine for a juvenile audience, featuring 'The Young Philosopher,' by W.T. Adams, discussing trains, railroads and their design and use. Adams is perhaps better known by his pen name Oliver Optic. Also present is the piece 'About A Cat,' by Gail Hamilton (pen name of Mary Abigail Dodge) a writer known for her support of equal opportunities for women. With pieces on the planets, etc. GOOD condition. Covers torn along the lower hinges, about 3 inches in length, with a1 by 2 inch triangular piece missing from the lower rear cover. Covers also split about 4 inches down along the upper hinge. Minor scattered staining to the front cover, with moderate staining to the rear. Minor soiling and browning. Some curling along the extremities. Previous owner's signature in pencil at the upper front cover. Text solid, with minor scattered staining. Good .
