Description: Paris, Ernest Bourdin, Publisher, 1842. Half-Leather. Pebbled red cloth with red leather spines. Marbled endpapers. Vii, 828; 935 pp. With black and white illustrations by Charlet throughout both volumes, many tipped onto blank pages (16 plus a frontis in the first volume and 11 plus frontis in the second volume). A few maps and diagrams also present. ALL TEXT IN FRENCH. Two volumes containing the works of Comte De Las Cases and M.M. O'Meara who provided notable first person accounts of Napoleon in exile on St. Helena. O'Meara alleged mistreatment of Napoleon by the Sir Hudson Lowe. With illustrations by Nicolas Toussaint Charlet, a French designer and painter noted for his depictions of military scenes. GOOD condition. Both volumes with minor to moderate uneven scuffing to the covers, a few heavier scuffs present to the leather and along the hinges. Minor general fading and soiling, with offsetting to both volumes. Extremities bumped and scuffed. Leather split along the upper front hinge of volume one. Interiors solid with minor to moderate scattered foxing throughout, a bit heavier to some of the illustrated pages. Uneven browning to the paper. Good/No Jacket.
