To which is added an alphabetical list of the officers killed and wounded, from 15th to 26th June, 1815, and the total loss of each regiment, with an enumeration of the Waterloo honours and privileges, conferred upon the men and officers, and lists of regiments, etc. entitled thereto. Illustrated by a panoramic sketch of the field of battle, and a plan of the position and movements, with those of the Prussians, traced. By a Near Observer. Stated fifth edition. Half-vellum binding with patterned red cloth covers. Gilt decorations along the spine, with title and date set against red backgrounds. Cxliv, 140 pp. With an extra leaf cxxv*, cxxvi*, preceding the other leaf also bearing these page numbers. Text is continuous and complete in that section. Collated and complete. With two fold out maps and a large fold out panoramic illustration of Waterloo, all colored. As the title states, a detailed account of the Battle of Waterloo, drawn from various sources, and paying special attention to the Duke of Wellington and Napoleon. With a large bookplate from William Hillier, 4th Earl of Onslow, a British politician and former Governor of New Zealand. Also present is an ownership signature from George Augustus Sala, perhaps the Italian-English writer and journalist. In GOOD condition. Covers slightly bowed, with minor soiling and darkening to the vellum. Cloth worn along the lower front edge, with some loss, perhaps due to insect exposure. Cloth faded. Text block solid with scattered minor foxing and soiling throughout, as well as a few minor pencil notations. Some notations regarding provenance on a rear endpaper. Frontis map with some foxing and darkening, cropped a little close at the lower margin. The Fold out panorama also bears some foxing, and has extensive paper and cloth tape repairs to the reverse, as well as creasing present. The last map has a 2 inch diagonal tear near the edge attached to the binding, with minor foxing and ghosting, as well as pencil notations to its blank side. Good/No Jacket.
