A memoir by Fouche, primarily recalling his service with Napoleon, but also reflecting upon the French Revolution, Robespierre, and others. With footnotes by the editor (unnamed) that contradict or question some of Fouche's statements. Joseph Fouche was a prominent member in the French Revolution, leading many bloody executions and helping to establish the Cult of Reason, as well as actively pursuing dechristianization. He served in various positions in Napoleon's government, often drawing the suspicion and ire of Napoleon. GOOD+ condition. General fading to the covers, with some soiling and minor scuffing. Light wear along the extremities. Interior solid, with scattered minor to moderate foxing throughout. Minor scattered soiling. Title in old ink on a rear endpaper. Good/No Jacket.
