Carey, born in Ireland was exiled due to his pro Irish Catholic views. The book is bound in bluish cloth, with extensive ornate raised floral/leaf decorations. In FAIR condition with moderate to heavy uneven fading/darkening to the covers, minor to moderate soiling, some scuffing and very heavy darkening to the spine. Extremities with some bumping and scuffing. Covers are very tenuously attached, with the cloth split along the hinges. Text block solid with moderate sporadic foxing throughout, as well as some scattered soiling. Fair/No Jacket.
