Near fine/very good. Faintest of jacket edgewear. Quite tight and really nice first edition of this study of (to cite jacket front) "The primitive peoples of Africa, the Arctic, New Guinea, and the Upper Amazon.. A distinguished explorer revisits the people he has long known and loved." Front flyleaf is inscribed and signed large and bold "For / Bob Malott / With the esteem and / best wishes of his friend / Lewis Cotlow / Christmas 1972" in black fineline. Cotlow (1898-1987) was an explorer who authored popular travel books and made documentary films about his exploits. He was also a lifelong member of the noted Explorers Club, as was the recipient: Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. Laid in is the February 1972 "Natural Science Book News" booklet reviewing this book. .
