Unusual large custom Lincoln-theme bookplate of "Dickelman's Lincoln Room" on front pastedown. Tight, quite nice reprint edition of the popular 1955 narrative. Tipped to the front flyleaf is a nice Typed Note Signed from Bishop, 1p, 7¼" X 10¼", Teaneck, NJ, 14 April 1956. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Near fine. Two faint original horizontal folds. Gates reviewed the first (1955) edition of this title in his book review column in the "Lincoln Herald" and sent along a copy to Bishop, for the author here replies: "Thanks for sending the nice review. It was swell of you to take the time to send it. Of course it will get a cherished spot in my den.." Handsomely signed in full in blue ballpoint. .
