Title: Headlights of American History. No. 2. Lincoln
Description: Appleton, WI, A.M. Bullock, 1913. Hardcover. 16mo. Green cloth with gilt lettering and circular front board printed image inset into circular gilt "headlight." 156pp. Top edge gilt. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Would rate "Near fine" but for couple of inoffensive scratches to circular front board portrait. A tight, quite attractive first edition of this handsome production, one of the loveliest early 20th century Lincoln titles of all -- also one of the few that can claim to be early automotive inspired, the front cover headlight a clear nod to the then-new horseless carriage. The first title in this "Headlights" series was devoted to George Washington, and it's possible that no further titles appeared. Nonauthorial 1914 freemason gift inscription on inner flyleaf. MONAGHAN 2072. .
