Description: This long-time University of Wyoming professor of English authored studies such as "The Necessary Earth: Nature and Solitude in America" (1964) and "The Rocky Mountain West in 1867" (1966), but also penned poetry ("We, Borne Along" 1949, "The Collected Poems of Wilson Clough" 1990) and was an accomplished amateur artist; killed when struck by a car while strolling a rural highway in New York. ANS, 1p, heavy stock 3½" X 5½", Laramie, WY, 1932 December. Addressed to John Leiser, a Chicago musician and music school founder. Near fine. "We are all about as usual, including the littlest, now nearly a year old -- David Van Wormer Clough." And notes travels: "I was.. in the Black Hills country last summer for branch school, and took a short trip to Star Valley, Western Wyoming. The obverse is a feeble attempt to catch a bit of the 'Wyoming Alps', or the Tetons.." Nicely penned in brown ink. The verso is a fine print titled "The Tetons," a tiny woodblock image of grand mountains, captioned "Christmas Greetings / Mr. and Mrs. Wilson O. Clough." With original envelope, addressed in Clough's hand. .
