Title: The Significance of the Fine Arts
Description: Boston, Marshall Jones Company, 1923. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt medallion and gilt lettering. xxix, 483pp. Frontispiece, numerous illustrations. Very good. Rather edgeworn, with spine slightly darkened; bookplate on front pastedown and ownership signature on front flyleaf. Tight, nice first edition of this essay collection "Published Under the Direction of the Committee on Education of the American Institute of Architects" and featuring contributions from Lorado Taft, Frederick Law Olmsted, Ralph Adams Cram and other noteworthies. Largely a survey and appreciation of historical architecture (not surprising, given the sponsor), with chapters on the "Allied Arts" such as sculpture, painting, landscape design, city planning, industrial arts, etc. .
